Regional Center for Water and Wastewater Management Co. in Tychy (RCGW S.A.) is an outstanding leader in application of modern wastewater treatment technology, but it is also a producer of renewable energy and an innovator in the newest methods of management.
Currently, the Wastewater Treatment Plant in Tychy removes contaminants from 12 million m3 of wastewater every year while employing biological and chemical treatment processes.
As a result of heavy investments in the plant, two independent processing lines of biological wastewater treatment, which includes removing biogenic contaminants, have been modernised. One line treats wastewater according to a patented, cutting-edge and at the same time one of the greatest technologies in Poland – the C-TECH technology based on wastewater treatment in the sequencing batch reactors (SBR). The other line makes use of activated sludge flow reactors which operate while using high-performance integrated technology of nitrogen and phosphorus removal.
Two power generators have been built on the site of the plant; they produce electricity from biogas which is a by-product of wastewater sludge digestion. Generators have the capacity to produce electricity (345 kW) and heating (531 kW). Both generators are capable of meeting the demands for electricity and heating of the whole treatment plant, which makes the company a superior leader among other wastewater treatment plants in Poland.
