Wastewater Treatment Plant


Wastewater treatment plant in Tychy Urbanowice collects sewage and municipal waste from the whole area of Tychy together with industrial wastewater and sewage delivered to the plant in septic tankers. It is a mechanical-biological wastewater treatment plant with a possibility of chemical phosphorus removal.
According to the permit required by the Water Management Act, concentrations of contaminants in effluent discharged from the plant into the Gostynia river cannot be higher than:

  • BOD 5 – 15 Mg/L,
  • COD – 125 Mg/L,
  • TSS – 35 Mg/L,
  • total nitrogen – 10 Mg/L,
  • total phosphorus – 1 Mg/L,
  • petroleum derivatives – 15 Mg/L.

Regionalne Centrum Gospodarki Wodno-Ściekowej S.A. in Tychy has been granted a waste disposal permit by Marshal of Silesian Province to dispose of the following types of waste:

  • Whey waste (code 02 05 80), quantity 110 000.0 Mg/year;
  • Materials unsuitable for consumption or processing (code 02 05 01), quantity 5000.0 Mg/year;
  • Grease and oil mixture from oil/water separation containing edible oils and fats only (code 19 08 09); quantity 1000 Mg/year.

Disposal of the above mentioned types of waste is performed in the process of anaerobic stabilization in digesters.
